A Word from the Intern…
I can barely believe it’s been a whole year already! That’s right – come May 11, Chris and I will have been parents for a full year! The time has flown by and we’re continually being amazed at how little Brigid is growing and developing. It is an exciting thing for us as parents; and we’re especially mindful of that fact this month as we all remember our mothers and those who have acted as mothers for us. Mothering (and fathering) is a very difficult calling, as I have learned this past year. You have to sacrifice much in order to provide for your child(ren). They don’t always know or appreciate all that you’ve done for them, but through it all, you continue to love them and work hard to keep them doing what they should be doing for the benefit of themselves and perhaps more importantly, for others.
I see this as being true as well for our relationship with God. God has sacrificed much for us by becoming human and dying for our sins. But this act proves his love for us, whether we fully know or appreciate it. As we remember our parents and thank them for all they’ve done for us this month and next with appointed holidays, I encourage all of us to take time everyday to remember the great cost God has paid for us and to thank him for it and to show that thankfulness by helping out all our brothers and sisters in Christ – wherever and whoever they might be.
